Joe Mackey

Joe Mackey has worked in the water/wastewater industry for 35 years, starting his career in 1984 as a laborer for the City of San Diego Water Utilities Department. After working a variety of increasingly responsible positions over a 23 year span with the City of San Diego, Joe was selected as the Safety & Risk Compliance Administrator at Olivenhain MWD in Encinitas in 2007. Joe continued his career at Olivenhain for another 12 years before retiring in 2019.
Joe has taught safety classes for AWWA National, AWWA California-Nevada Section, and many other water and wastewater agencies over a span of 25 years. Joe is certified as a Distribution 3 System Operator with the California State Water Resources Control Board.
