Cuyamaca Cares

 

Mission

It is the mission of Cuyamaca Cares to dismantle social stigma surrounding basic needs insecurities by providing food, housing and counseling resources in an accessible, inclusive and dignified manner.

Emergency Assistance Fund

The Cuyamaca Emergency Assistance Fund is available to all current students who have been financially impacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Students may receive $500 per semester. 

  • Applications received prior to June 1, 2020 will be considered to be Spring applications.
  • Summer applications will be accepted from June 1 to July 31, 2020.
  • Fall applications will be accepted from August 1 to December 23, 2020.
  • You must be enrolled in classes in the current term you are applying for.

Due to the overwhelming response to this program, wait times have been longer than usual. Please be patient, we are working on your application. To inquire about the status of your application, you are welcome to email cuyamaca.cares@gcccd.edu.

 

On The House

Due to campus closures following the COVID-19 pandemic, all campus food distributions and pantries are closed until further notice. If you are in need of food, please visit the following websites to search for food distributions in your area:


Housing

Housing resources aims to assist housing insecure and homeless students through:

  • Urban Angels partnership 
    • Provides emergency shelter for students (limited bed space)
  • Veterans Village of San Diego partnership 
    • For homeless veteran students
  • Home Start partnership
    • Student focused rapid rehousing and case management
  • Care Fair
    • Resource fair for housing resources and wraparound services (twice per semester)

Personal Counselors

Cuyamaca Cares aims to support students through personal issues with:

  • Personal counseling
    • Counselors are available to talk with students about any issue
    • Counselors are available for appointments via telephone or zoom
