Religious Studies

Cuyamaca College’s Religious Studies Program offers an in-depth look into the beliefs that have shaped and continue to shape the world. Courses include World Religions, which serves as an introduction to the teachings, figures and practices of the world’s religions; Introduction to the Hebrew Scriptures, which involves the historical background and modern analysis of Hebrew scriptures; and Introduction to the New Testament, which traces the history and culture of the New Testament period and analyzes the content of the scriptures.

Other courses include Selected Topics in Religious Studies, which allow students to explore subjects not covered by regular course catalogs.

Cuyamaca College’s Religious Studies Program is in the Department of Humanities, Philosophy and Religious Studies.

Some students explore courses in Religious Studies at Cuyamaca College as they contemplate a journey toward a master’s degree or Ph.D. en route to teaching in this field at the college or university level. For others, Religious Studies provides a foundation for a service-oriented career in the ministry or counseling. Still others are simply fascinated by the subject and want to learn more about the foundations behind the world’s religions.
