Personal Development - Special Services

Personal Development and Special Services (PDSS) falls within Disabled Student Programs and Services (DSPS) at Cuyamaca College. DSPS accommodates the academic and support needs of students with disabilities, and it offers eligible students access to a variety of specialized support services and assistive equipment. These services are intended to accommodate students with disabilities in regular college programs and activities.

PDSS courses include Self-Advocacy for Students with Disabilities, which is designed for students who want to learn more about personal empowerment, support systems, understanding one’s strengths, and legal and ethical issues involved with the disabled. Adapted Computer Studies, meanwhile, provides in-depth, individualized instruction in assistive technology and techniques to improve students’ ability to succeed in mainstream college-level courses. Other courses include Learning Strategies, and Cognitive Communications Skills and Strategies.

Cuyamaca College is committed to the success of all students, and that commitment thrives in Personal Development and Special Services.
