Course Notes:

Classes are completely online. There are NO Zoom meetings.

I highly recommend that you also take the grammar course for this level. I am teaching ESL 2AG section 7725 and 2BG section 7726.

Text: Carol Dweck's Mindset: The New Psychology of Success

If you want to get a headstart, we will be reading chapters 1,6, & 7 for the first 1/3 of class.

Although the class is online, we have the same strategies as we do in the classroom.

We will read the book, talk about what we read in online discussions to make sure everyone understands, and write our essays paragraph by paragraph [reviewing everything along the way]. I will provide lots of help via lectures, activities, and you can always email me questions :) Online tutoring is also available.

During the semester, we will write three 5 paragraph essays - the last one including research. We will also have 3 online essay exams.

Your participation is super important in class, and I look forward to getting to know you online.

Course Notes:

Classes are completely online. There are NO Zoom meetings.

I highly recommend that you also take the writing course for this level. The grammar class is specifically designed to improve the essays you create in the writing classes to help you get a better grade. I am teaching ESL 2A sections 2975 & 7718 and 2B sections 5685 & 7719.

Text: Carol Dweck's Mindset: The New Psychology of Success

If you want to get a headstart, we will be reading chapters 1,6, & 7 for the first 1/3 of class.

Although the class is online, we have the same strategies as we do in the classroom.

We will read the book, use what we read to discuss parts of speech, grammatical structures, and more to improve your sentences and essays. You all have awesome college level brains, and we want to use proper English grammar to show that. I will provide lots of help via lectures, activities, and you can always email me questions :) Online tutoring is also available.

During the semester, we will do lots of activities in our discussion groups, view lectures and take 3 exams.

This class is pass/no pass. It is not graded because the focus isn't the grade, but rather the improvement of your writing. I find students who take this class with the writing class get better grades overall.

Your participation is super important in class, and I look forward to getting to know you online.
